Day 1 -Thursday Aug 9, 2001
Narrative by Simeon Alo...
Upon arriving at the Naniloa Resort, the welcoming committee greeted us with gifts and hugs. Special Mahalo to Kimo Spencer for the Black & Blue Bags and the Hilo committee for all the special things you guys put into it.
Little gatherings of friends on the lawn with drinks and pupus by the pool and Hilo Bay. Mahalo, George K. for the wonderful musical workshop full of laughter and children's stories from days gone by at Kapalama Heights.
As we saw familiar faces and stripped away our inhibitions and defenses, we began to relax and accept each other as we are and re-newed old acquaintences; Yep; we're all older now, but still the childhood friend inside came out and we began to feel comfortable, good and warm inside.
As the evening approached, we formed circle of friends at the edge of Hilo Bay, as a memorial to honor and read the names of our Class Angels from Kamehameha. Mahalo Roy, Hoku, Melissa, Keoni A., and the many others present and afar for being there physically as well as spiritually to honor our angels.
Later still, the evening was filled with song, socializing, singing, drinking and laughter into the late-nite and early morning hours. Mahalo, Guy, Brian, Nani, Kale, Roy and all the other singers for sharing your gift of song with us.
