Awesome first day, beginning at the Naniloa Hotel in Hilo, a last minute change of venue that had a few who showed up at the Seaside Hotel wondering if they were having a "senior moment". Friday began early with a caravan trip to the new Kea'au (Big Island) Campus of the Kamehameha Schools. Our class presented a legacy gift (mahalo nui, Ricky Pa) to the Principal, Ms. Barbara Robertson. A number of Trustees were on hand for the event.
The caravan continued up the volcano to a Halema'uma'u lookout where a tribute to tutu Pele was conducted by classmate Hokulani Holt-Padilla. A wonderful buffet lunch followed at the Volcano House overlooking Halemauma'u Crater. Classmates Jim Kauahikaua and Norrie Miller Judd provided us with tours of Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park. Some of the group took on the challenge of the Volcano Golf course. Others visited the Keauhou Bird Conservation Center hosted on Kamehameha Schools lands.
That evening everyone met back at the Naniloa Resort to heavy pupus with Live entertainment. More classmates were still showing up!
