Aloha From Phoenix Arizona!!! We arrived in Phoenix on Friday to be with our little grandson Chaice Boy. He just turned "3" on Tuesday! After 3 months in Virginia, his parents, Kelii & Mahea decided to move back to Arizona to pursue their college degrees. They've purchased a nice fixer upper home in an awesome location for schools at a really great price! It would be impossible to come up with the same numbers in our Aloha State. Better than paying rent but lots of "home improvement" projects!
A hui hou, Roy Horner

Neil Hannahs spent Nov. 4 and 5 in Hilo and conducted presentations to the Rotary Clubs of South Hilo and Hilo Bay regarding the mission of the Kamehameha Schools and the facts about the upcoming admissions cases. It was well done and well received. This has also secured more allies towards the Kamehameha Schools cause.
Attached you will find the Rotary Club of Hilo Bay's bulletin "Bay Watch" highlighting Neil's presentation. Hope you like it.
A hui hou, Nathan Chang

October 18, 2003 -Saturday. Queens Beach -
In the midst of a hectic weekend, with multiple competing festivals creating a parking nightmare, several classmates were able to make it to our class table at Queens. It was a first time for Wayne & Flora Wong, and an acknowledgement that Sam Tollefson is leaving the islands to be with Theone at last, in Washington State. Walt & Eda Kaneakua and Mike & Nancy Souza made sure everyone was well fed and that the laughter and conversation was non-stop. Peter Medeiros and daughter Rain rounded out the gathering.

Jerry Santos performed a magical and super concert this past Saturday in Hilo. A crowd of several hundred people listened and enjoyed from 7:30 until 10:30. It was magnificent! Julie (Hugo) Melrose attended as did Keola Beamer's mother - Aunty Winona Beamer. -Nathan Chang

After arriving in Kentucky on August 11th, we drove north to Michigan a week later to visit Bill's kids and grandchildren (they call me Tutu). Flew to North Carolina a few days later for Kalima's graduation from Special Forces at Ft. Bragg and returned to the Big Island this past Tuesday (Aug 26).
Too short of a trip, enjoyed every minute of it. -Sheri

July 23-24, 2003. Gerald Lam takes a break from the rat race of Honolulu.
On the spur of the moment, (asked at the last minute by cousins to fill in for another who couldn't make it) Gerry tackles the 'downhill' of Haleakala.

Gerry says "Extreme and Fun at the same time, it would be perfect as an elective event for the Maui2005 class experience. I'll lead the trek down. Bike rentals are cheap ... $40 per day for very good mountain bikes all set up for it. It is a beautiful, expansive, and 'amusement park fun' ride."

July 9, 2003 -Wednesday. Warren Dennison comes home for a visit.
The "haole boy" of our class, came home, staying in Kahaluu with his mom. There was a quick Molokai visit with Brudder Roy and Auntie Faith. Then back on Oahu, a Potluck at the Manoa Fire Station was hosted by Capt Simeon & Lorraine. (The mo'opuna loved climbing on Simeon's big yellow Cadillac!) Other Ohanas at the celebration were Kaneakua, Kumalae, Tong and Nakoa.

Ledward Kaapana and George Kahumoku came to Molokai to give a Workshop on the Slack Key Guitar at our Public Library. George contacted us about two months prior and was "itching" to do a "gig" that would benefit a good cause!

We found that cause.....Moana's Hula Halau's Gracious Ladies were the beneficiaries of a Concert held at the Hotel Molokai. The place was packed. We had a great time. Imua69'ers there to see George perform were
Tuddie Purdy, Charley Young, Mugs Akiona (flew up special)
